The academic plan is organized
around five key themes—discovery, engagement and outreach,
institutional effectiveness, resourcefulness, and community. Each
reflects a particular aspect of the academic experience at UNH.
|
 |
| Discovery describes the
core educational experience we provide for students, in which new
knowledge, ways of thinking, problem solving skills, and skills
of citizenship are acquired and practiced.
|
|
|
| Engagement and outreach
focus on how faculty and students interact with the people and issues
of New Hampshire, New England, the nation, the world. By assuring
our full engagement with the changing world, we enrich scholarly
work, while applying our intellectual resources to today's complex
world. |
|
|
| The theme of resourcefulness
is concerned with maximizing diverse revenue sources—thereby
minimizing growth in tuition rates—and using our human, fiscal,
and material resources as efficiently as possible. |
 |
| Our commitment to institutional
effectiveness requires that we assess the quality of our teaching
and research on a continual basis, and assure that our limited resources
foster excellence in selected disciplines. |
 |
| Finally, our commitment to community
demands effective governance, the creation of a civil, respectful
climate, and the pursuit of more diverse students, faculty, and staff
to better reflect rapid demographic changes in New Hampshire and beyond. |
